Information Systems, Organisation and Society (ISOS)

The Information Systems, Organisation and Society Research Centre brings together the substantial community of scholars at Salford who share a general interest in researching the social and organisational aspects of information systems. The group is particularly interested in critical and interpretive research. There is also a growing steam of science and technology studies work.

Current interests in the group are: ICTs and social inclusion, the rise of social networking sites such as Myspace, On-line Gaming, information fulfilment, the diffusion of innovations, ICTs and call centre working, mobile and ubiquitous computing, system work-arounds, knowledge work, learning technologies, Web 2.0 technologies, gender and technology, web accessibility, philosophy of technology.

The group are responsible for much of the provision of the ICT related postgraduate teaching with the Salford Business School. We offer various programmes, details of which can be found here. If you would like to discuss these programmes or make an application, please do contact Dr. Maria Kutar who is the admissions officer.

The group also contributes to IRIS' active doctoral school and we are always interested in hearing form potential PhD students. If you have an idea of what you would like to research, tell us. If you don't, not to worry, we can help you craft your research proposal.
